RM Ventures LLC builds modern, affordable software for the volunteer fire service — starting with Responder HQ.

The fire service just lived through a once-in-a-generation change. NFIRS, the reporting standard departments used for decades, was retired at the start of 2026 and taken offline that February. Overnight, every department in the country needed NERIS-capable software. At the same time, the big incumbents consolidated and raised their prices, leaving small and volunteer departments — the ones with no IT staff and the tightest budgets — with the worst options.

We started RM Ventures to fix that. Volunteer departments deserve tools built for how they actually operate: on a phone, at 2 a.m., by someone who also has a day job. Not desktop software from another era, and not an enterprise platform priced for a metro fire department.

A note from the founder

Responder HQ started as a simple question: why should a volunteer department fight its software just to file a report and track its trucks? I built Responder HQ to be the tool I'd want my own department to use — clear, quick on a phone, and honest about what it does. If it saves your officers an evening of paperwork a week, it's doing its job.
